New E. W. Godwin Mural unveiled

There’s a new mural adorning the shop shutter at Stylemongers Of Bristol.

It had to be something relevant to interior design of course, so I’ve replicated a bamboo wallpaper design by E.W. Godwin - Bristol’s own version of William Morris.

A lover of beauty, he was the architect of The Carriageworks on Stokes Croft, designed interiors, fabrics, even furniture and has some pieces in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. He switched to designing theatre sets and costume, which is what I used to do before interior design, hence my special interest in his work.

But as Bristol doesn’t really celebrate him at all, I’ve decided to do it myself by spraying the shop shutter. I hope all the passersby will enjoy it too.
